I remember this first big game I went to where I was hoping to use mobile data. It would have been late 90’s and on a mobitex-rocking blackberry 950. And, didnt’t really work there in rural Pennsylvania with ~120k folks around.
Fast forward to this weekend. The 3rd game (Vikings vs 49’ers), theres about 65k people in this stadium. And all are surfing, tweeting, tindering, etc. and it worked.
The issue here is not so much the ‘towers’, its your devices. all 65k people have an omni-directional antenna radiating in all directions. the near-far problem.
Internet is slowly and surely getting ubiquitous.
